Visual Studio Code unveils floating editor windows

Microsoft has launched Visual Studio Code 1.85, also known as the edition of the open source code editor that will be available in November 2023. The most recent version of Visual Studio Code includes the ability to view JavaScript heap snapshots and floating editor windows.

Visual Studio Code 1.85 was released on December 7 and is available for Mac, Linux, and Windows. Developers can now move editors into their own lightweight windows and out of the main window with the latest release. Any modifications made to one editor window will take effect instantly in all other editor windows.

Users can drag an editor from the open window and drop it into a blank spot on the desktop to create a floating editor window.
