Valve has issued new guidelines governing the types of AI-generated content that Steam-published games may contain by their developers.
The decision was made in response to the advancement and widespread availability of AI tools that can automatically generate text, images, code, and other types of content. Earlier this week, Valve announced that it was changing its submission procedure to mandate that developers reveal whether or not they employed artificial intelligence (AI) tools to produce content for their games.
Developers are required to certify that no unlawful material or copyright infringement appears in any content produced by AI. Valve is introducing a new reporting system that will enable Steam users to conveniently report dubious AI-generated content they encounter during gameplay.
