Twitter has announced new fees for developers using its API less than a month after abruptly blocking outside apps. Twitter announced in a tweet that free access to its API (both v2 and v1.1) will end on February 9th, 2023.

According to the company, a paid basic tier will take the place of free access. Next week, more precise information is anticipated to be released. The fundamental functionality provided by Twitter’s API allows users to access data from the social media platform to carry out simple tasks like retrieving and analyzing public data

All centralized social networks may face a serious threat in the coming years due to developer support as well as consumers’ growing desire to regain control over their data.
