Ruby 3.3.0 gets closer to release with new parser

Ruby 3.3.0

Ruby 3.3.0 has advanced to the release candidate stage; it is an anticipated update to the popular dynamic language that will include a new parser. Ruby 3.3.0’s RC1 was revealed on December 11. Developers can get to it by visiting ruby-lang.org.

The Prism parser is included as a default gem. Prism is advertised as a recursive-descent, portable, maintainable, and error-tolerant parser for the Ruby programming language. Prism, a C library, can be utilized in lieu of Ripper.

The Lrama LALR parser generator, which is meant to give CRuby an error-tolerant parser with little modifications to the CRuby parse.y file, is another feature included in Ruby 3.3.0. Following the release of RC1, Ruby developers will make every effort to prevent the introduction of ABI (application binary interface) incompatibilities.
