According to Perforce Software’s OpenLogic 2023 State of Open Source Report, 80% of organizations have increased their use of open-source software in the past 12 months.
“The big advantage is that the number one reason to use open source is access to innovation,” said Javier Perez, chief OSS evangelist and senior director of product management at Perforce and one of the report’s lead authors. Kubernetes usage has increased by 5% over the past year, making it the third most used cloud-native technology with around 23% of the vote, according to OpenLogic’s OSS report.
Apart from OpenStack, which saw a 10% year-over-year usage decline, all other cloud-native technologies saw growth over the past twelve months. The report also found that the use of containers and container technology increased significantly – from 18% to 33%.
