The Ethereum ecosystem could see a slew of new layer 2 (L2) protocols built on Polygon’s recently released open-source codebase, Chain Development Kit, which uses zero-knowledge proof (ZK-proof) technology to ensure security and speed.
One important feature, according to Polygon co-founder and technical lead Jordi Baylina, is that the Polygon CDK enables automatic access to liquidity across all of Polygon’s chains as well as the larger Ethereum ecosystem, offering “on-demand scale, without fragmenting liquidity.”
The Ethereum developer cited numerous initiatives developing CDK-powered chains for a range of use cases, including platforms for the creator or nonfungible tokens, decentralized finance, gaming, and social-specific platforms.
