The developer of ChatGPT and DALL-E 2, OpenAI, recently disclosed a number of important changes. The Whisper speech-transcription model and the ChatGPT developer APIs are the first to be released. Additionally, it added a 30-day data retention policy and modified its terms of service to allow developers to choose whether or not to use their data for improvements.
The new ChatGPT API will make use of the same artificial intelligence (AI) model (gpt-3.5-turbo) as the well-known chatbot, enabling developers to integrate plain or customized versions of ChatGPT into their applications. The API can power “non-chat” software experiences that might profit from AI brains as well as brand-specific bots that mimic ChatGPT.
A dedicated-capacity option is also available for wealthy developers who anticipate using more tokens than the standard API permits.
