With Microsoft and Amazon Web Services (AWS) on board, the GSMA has announced the launch of GSMA Open Gateway, a framework of universal network APIs that will provide universal access to operator networks for developers.
This announcement was made at MWC Barcelona, the GSMA’s annual European gathering. Developers concerned about motivation and credentials can look to two areas. The first is that the APIs are defined, developed, and published in CAMARA, an open source project managed by the Linux Foundation that provides developers with access to enhanced network capabilities.
The second is that Microsoft and AWS have expressed support. Developers utilizing AWS services, for instance, will be unable to utilize telco APIs.
