Microsoft’s DirectSR API Simplifies Implementation of DLSS, FSR, and XeSS

Microsoft has announced its upcoming DirectSR upscaling technology, which aims to simplify the implementation of major vendors’ upscalers. DirectSR enables multi-vendor SR by allowing a single code path to activate various solutions such as DLSS, FSR, and XeSS.

The technology will be showcased at an event in March, and a public preview of the API will be available soon. The article also discusses the challenges game developers face when managing three different upscalers from AMD, Nvidia, and Intel and how DirectSR could potentially replace Nvidia’s Streamline framework.
