Microsoft is introducing a new extension performance detector to its Edge web browser, starting with the Edge Canary 130 build. The detector will alert users if certain extensions are slowing down their browser, showing the performance impact and allowing users to disable the extensions on the spot. Users can manually opt-in to use this feature. This addition reflects Microsoft’s efforts to make Edge a competitive, performance-oriented alternative to Google Chrome, focusing on optimizing memory usage and providing performance data for extensions.
