Luma AI Inc., a computer vision startup, has announced the completion of a USD 43 million funding round in support of its efforts to develop generative artificial intelligence models with the ability to perceive their surroundings.
Top tier venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz led the Series B round, in which Amplify, Matrix, Nvidia Corp., and a number of anonymous angel investors participated. Luma started out as the developer of a straightforward smartphone application that attracted millions of users. With the help of the app, users could take 3D images of objects using just their smartphone’s camera and no additional hardware.
The startup is currently developing that idea, and it claims to have built a potent cluster comprising over 3,000 Nvidia A100 graphics processing units as part of its plan.
