Industry titans form AOUSD to standardize the 3D ecosystem

The Joint Development Foundation (JDF) and industry giants Pixar, Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, and NVIDIA have joined forces to launch the Alliance for OpenUSD (AOUSD).

The main goal of AOUSD is to advance the capabilities of Open Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD) by promoting the standardization, development, evolution, and growth of Pixar’s Universal Scene Description (USD) technology.

A cutting-edge 3D scene description technology called OpenUSD was first developed by Pixar Animation Studios to promote interoperability between various tools, data, and workflows.

Its potent features enable streamlined content production and collaborative artistic expression in industries like film, visual effects, and animation.
