Google has released Immersive Stream for XR, a tool that simplifies the creation of mixed-reality experiences by developers. The business held a demonstration of a new “immersive view” in Google Maps earlier this week.

This feature combines billions of Street View and other images to produce a precise 3D model of a location. To host, render, and stream high-quality photorealistic experiences, the tool makes use of Google Cloud GPUs. At last year’s I/O, a preview of Immersive Stream for XR was released. This week’s general release includes updates like support for Immersive Stream for XR content and Unreal Engine 5’s landscape orientation.

To assist developers with the new Unreal Engine 5 and landscape mode support, Google has produced a template project.
