According to ARM CEO Rene Haas, the exclusive agreement between Qualcomm and Microsoft for Windows on ARM is set to expire this year. The two-year-old deal mandated that OEMs producing Windows on ARM laptops exclusively use Qualcomm chipsets.
As the agreement ends, new possibilities arise for other chipset manufacturers like Nvidia and AMD to enter the market, providing consumers with a broader range of choices.
HP, Lenovo, Dell, and other brands had adhered to Qualcomm exclusivity. However, the expiration of this agreement opened the door for diverse ARM-based chipsets.
