Developer Shortage Remains the Top Challenge for Two Years: Report

According to the new Reveal survey of 2,228 software developers and IT professionals conducted by Infragistics, even in the midst of recent layoffs in the tech sector, finding developers with the right skills will be the biggest challenge in 2023.

DevOps Engineer, Data Analytics Developer, and IT Security Engineer were identified as the hardest jobs to fill, with more than a third of respondents (37.5%) indicating that they will still have trouble finding skilled developers in 2023.

The survey found that while almost all developers (88.8%) collaborate with a designer or design team, almost half of a developer’s time (43.4%) is spent on coding an app. In three-quarters (76.8%) of organizations, the lack of skilled developers is being addressed by the use of low-code/no-code tools.
