According to reports this weekend, artificial intelligence startups Anthropic AI and Character Technologies Inc. are closing on massive funding rounds backed by a number of prominent venture capital firms.
The New York Times reported on Friday, citing two people with knowledge of the situation, that Anthropic is focusing on a USD 300 million round of funding. In the meantime, Character AI has reportedly informed investors that it needs USD 250 million in additional funding, according to a Friday The Information report.
The proposed rounds serve as additional proof of the tremendous excitement created by the potential of so-called “generative AI,” which is an umbrella term for AI algorithms that can produce text, images, and other types of media when given instructions by users.
