Android updates its data deletion policy to give users more clarity

Google unveiled a new data deletion policy to give users more control and transparency over how their in-app data is handled.

Developers will soon be required to give users the ability to delete their accounts and related data both within the app and online on services that support the creation of user accounts by including a deletion option in their apps.

The Data safety forms in apps will need to be connected to this option. Developers must be transparent about their data retention policies if they need to keep certain data for ostensibly legitimate reasons like security, preventing fraud, or regulatory compliance.
