Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global provider of IoT solutions, and Amazon Sidewalk, a secure, wide-reaching, low-bandwidth network for IoT devices, today announced their partnership to deliver advanced connectivity solutions for their provide customers. The Quectel KG100S module and a portfolio of matching antennas will be fully compatible with Amazon Sidewalk, making deployment and maintenance of connected IoT devices and solutions faster, more convenient and less expensive. It is designed to provide persistent connectivity for devices that are out of range of typical home IoT networks.

The KG100S is a cost-effective, power-saving module in an LGA form factor, specifically designed to support Amazon Sidewalk applications. The KG100S is equipped with a built-in SX1262 transceiver supporting LoRa® and FSK, and a powerful, low-power Silicon Labs EFR32BG21B microcontroller with a 2.4 GHz Bluetooth® Low Energy 5.1 and 80 MHz ARM radio transceiver Cortex-M33 microcontroller core. With a compact profile of 15mm × 15mm × 2.25mm, 96KB RAM and 1MB Flash, the module features 3.3V and 1.8V power supply and is suitable for connecting applications with low data rate, such as sensor networks and smart home devices. Quectel also provides a portfolio of high-performance embedded and external antennas to support Sidewalk designs and devices. By bundling the module and antennas, OEM manufacturers can ensure cost-effective devices with a short time-to-market.

The Amazon Sidewalk Modules also enable automatic connection of IoT devices at no cost to transmit messages to Amazon Sidewalk. It doesn’t require any manual onboarding or setup to establish or maintain a connection. In this way, Amazon Sidewalk enables connectivity for everyday objects inside and outside the home—kitchen appliances, gas sensors, lawn sprinklers, keys, trash cans, pet trackers, streetlights. Amazon Sidewalk connects them instantly and instantaneously, fulfilling the promise of a connected world.

“We are extremely excited to be working with Amazon Sidewalk to provide our customers with advanced IoT connectivity solutions,” said Norbert Muhrer, President and Chief Sales Officer, Quectel. technology with Amazon Sidewalk’s wide-ranging, low-bandwidth network, we are confident that this collaboration will provide the connectivity they need to make their IoT visions a reality.”

Amazon Sidewalk is a secure and reliable community network that leverages the participation of Amazon Sidewalk Bridges, such as Amazon Echo and Ring devices, to provide cloud connectivity for 3rd party IoT devices. It enables long-range, low-bandwidth connectivity at home and outside using Bluetooth® Low Energy for short-range communication and LoRa® and FSK radio protocols using 900MHz frequencies to cover long distances.

Amazon Sidewalk’s highly encrypted technology uses small chunks of internet bandwidth from millions of participating Sidewalk Bridges, the everyday IoT devices found in communities and organizations around the world, to provide widespread wireless connectivity. The world-class development journey, further supported by Amazon, one of the world’s leading innovators, provides developers with an unprecedented opportunity to build intelligent apps, services and devices needed to create the smart businesses, homes, neighborhoods, cities and campuses of the future to be able to.
